How We Compare Pillows

Our comparison methodology, and an honest status list of the comparisons still in draft.

A pillow comparison is only useful if both sides are described from verified sources using the same criteria. We compare shape, loft, materials, adjustability, temperature behaviour, care requirements and purchase terms — and we publish nothing until each value has a dated source. Our comparison pages are therefore live as drafts, marked noindex, and excluded from our sitemap.

The criteria we use

  1. Shape and intended sleeping position.
  2. Loft at the neck and under the head, from a dated source.
  3. Footprint and pillowcase compatibility.
  4. Core material and whether the fill is adjustable.
  5. Temperature behaviour and cover breathability.
  6. Care requirements — what can be washed and how.
  7. Purchase terms: where it is sold, trial period, return conditions.
  8. What could not be verified, stated openly.

Rules we hold ourselves to

  • No invented competitor specifications, ever.
  • No declaring one product the winner in every category.
  • No price comparisons, because prices and bundles change constantly.
  • No comfort verdicts on pillows nobody on our side has slept on.
  • Every material fact carries a source and an access date.

Until matched evidence is complete, compare pillow types rather than brands. Our pillow loft and firmness guide will get you closer to a suitable choice than an incomplete brand-versus-brand table.
