Loft, footprint and pillowcase fit — the three measurements that decide whether a compact contoured pillow works for you.

Short answer
Derila’s product page lists the ERGO as 21.3 in × 14.2 in × 4.7 in (about 54 × 36 × 12 cm), weighing 36.9 oz (about 1.05 kg). Its own sales page at derila-ergo.com gives the same footprint (Length 54 cm / 21.2 in, width 36 cm / 14.1 in), but a graphic on the store page shows a smaller 32 cm / 12.6 in by 50 cm / 19.6 in — so treat 54 × 36 cm as the figure to plan around and measure your pillowcase before you order. Either way it is smaller than a standard bed pillow, which is deliberate.

Loft matters more than footprint
For comfort, height under the neck and head matters more than footprint. Back sleepers generally need less loft than side sleepers, and broader shoulders often need more. Our pillow loft and firmness guide explains how to assess the height you need.
How to measure your current pillow for comparison
- Lay your current pillow flat and uncompressed on a hard surface.
- Measure its length and width with a tape measure.
- Measure its height at the point where your neck rests, without pressing down.
- Lie on it in your usual position and have someone photograph you from the front.
- Compare those numbers with the seller’s stated dimensions before ordering.
Will a standard pillowcase fit?
With a contoured pillow, a case that is too large is a real problem rather than a cosmetic one: excess fabric bunches over the recess and flattens the shaping you paid for. At about 54 × 36 cm the ERGO is well short of a standard UK or US case (roughly 75 × 50 cm), so a standard case will be loose. Measure the inside of your cases and compare. If they are much larger, plan on using the cover supplied with the pillow or buying a case sized for a contoured pillow.
