Short answer
A contoured foam pillow like the Derila ERGO generally suits back sleepers best, can suit side sleepers whose shoulder width matches its loft, is usually a poor match for stomach sleepers, and is workable for combination sleepers who mainly rotate between back and side.

Back sleepers
Use the centre recess and watch the result rather than assuming the label guarantees fit. If the ridge pushes your chin toward your chest, the fixed contour is too high for your body and mattress; if your head falls back, it may be too low.
Side sleepers
The useful check is whether the fixed outer ridge fills your shoulder-to-head gap after the foam compresses. A photograph taken from behind at mattress height can reveal tilt. If the head drops toward the mattress or is pushed away from it, an adjustable pillow is the safer choice.
Stomach sleepers
Front sleeping already rotates the neck, and the fixed raised ridge adds height. The Derila shape is therefore difficult to recommend for a mainly front sleeper. See the stomach-sleeper pillow guide for lower, more forgiving options.
Combination sleepers
If you change position several times a night, the question is which two positions dominate. Back-and-side rotation works reasonably with a contoured pillow, because both use the shaped surface. If stomach sleeping is one of your main positions, a flatter, more forgiving pillow is likely to feel better overall.
Which way round does it go?
- The flatter face goes down on the mattress.
- The raised, thicker edge goes toward the foot of the bed, under your neck.
- The dipped centre sits under the back of your head.
- The shaped side recesses give room for a shoulder or arm when you turn.
